Reading homework has begun. Each student is bringing home a
book bag with nightly homework. Levels 3-12 will be practicing reading
nightly, orally summarizing, practicing sight words, making connections to
text and discussing vocabulary with parents for homework. Beginning at a
level 14 students will be expected to read, answer written comprehension
questions, discuss vocabulary, practice high frequency phrases and complete
graphic organizers that are specific to the skill we are working on. Please
make sure you give your child your full attention during this 20 minute
block.
Spelling homework will now be coming home also. I have used the easier
sight words to introduce the process of how we will do spelling. As we get
into the more complex phonograms the words will become increasingly more
difficult. The following words are what we are working on:
