Homework

Please read with your child daily for 10-15 minutes. Your child will be
bringing home a "Reading Bag" starting October 6 or October 7. Inside this
bag is a folder that will have further instructions on how to help your child
with their reading. Inside the same folder is a "Reading Log" that you can
sign daily to show that they read with you or an older sibling. Your child
knows that it is their responsibility to do their reading homework and to get
their Reading Log sign, however you can help with this responsibility. They
have read this book in class with me in a small reading group so this is
a "familiar read" to them. They should be reading this book fluently and
with few errors. After reading they should be discussing the book with you
(retelling, talking about connections they had, talking about
problems/solutions, Beginning Middle and End, ect). Your child also knows
that they are able to read another book (of their choice from home) if they
still have time after reading their "Reading Bag" book and discussing that
book with you. As usual, if there are any questions, please call or email
me. Thank you very much for reading with your child!
