10/21/09	Compound Sentences using comparison notes about Jamestown and Plymouth
11/18/09	Pictures showing meanings of vocabulary words "spec."

 

 This week we are continuing with the history of the European expansion to the American continent. This will focus on the European countries of Spain, Portugal, France, and England and their reasons for exploring North America.

 

I have found a disturbing weakness in the students' ability to identify nouns and verbs in sentences. This is a concept that starts in 2nd grade. We will have homework identifying these. Please encourage your child to work on identifying the parts of speech.

I appreciate all the phone calls concerning the minimal amount of homework. This shows me the importance you place on your child's education. Rest Assured, learning is happening. We will be using homework as practice activities and we are just getting to the point where this will be most beneficial.
