Week of November

Notes:
Science Project...we will be conducting a classroom
science project and completing the assignments together. This will ensure that
all students will have the experience and receive a certificate. If you wish
to do another at home, I'll be happy to send home the forms and
information...just let me know!
Dates to Remember:

November 19 - Today will be our cooking day. Easy
recipe...no help required. We'll be making butter :-) and Wobble Gobble
cookies!
November 20 - Early Release...Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Our special code word for this week is
Thanksgiving. Have your child
mention this word to me this week and they will receive 5 pennies in their
group penny jar!
Our weekly block schedule will be as
follows:
Monday PE
Tuesday PE
Wednesday Art
Thursday Music
Friday PE
Reading
- We are meeting regulary with our reading groups. Please have the students
read their books at home. Most groups need to be reading daily! We are also
incorporating a lot of phonics, word blends, and word groups.
Writing
- We are usng mentor texts from Ian Falconner.
Math
- Here's what we need to work on: Counting AND writing numbers to 30. At first
this sounds like an easy task, why are we working on this? There's 2 things
involved here: 1)Understanding the concept of quantity (16 is less than 25,
etc) and 2)Having the ability to write to 30 with the numbers in the correct
position and not facing backwards (Ex: 32 is not the same number as 23 AND 2
and 3 are often written backwards). We will also be learning our home phone
numbers.
Science
- We are studying Thanksgiving and American symbols.
Thanks for all you do!
