Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a wonderful, restful break!
Here are the topics for the third nine weeks:
Social Studies: Slavery, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution and the
American Revolution.
Language Arts: Reading and Writing Workshops, Literature Circles, TAKS
Reading Practice and Spelling and Grammar Patterns.
Math: Probability and Geometry.
Also:
5th Grade will continue collecting items for our soldiers overseas.
Collection will be the 15th of every month!
On the horizon:
January 5 - January 22, 2010-Safety Patrol
January 25 - Our Souper Bowl of Caring Kicks off! Please donate any food
items that you can, especially some type of protein (peanut butter, beans and
tuna).
February 8 - 5th Grade students will travel to the Performing Arts Center at
McNeil High School.
February 9 - The 6th grade counselor from Cedar Valley will visit with 5th
grade students to help them register for 6th grade.
February 12 - Our Valentine's Day Party from 9:30-10:30am!
February 16 - a parent information meeting for parents of fifth graders will
be held in the Cedar Valley Cafeteria from 6:30-8:00pm.
March 5 - registration paperwork is due. Even if your child is attending
another middle school, please return the paperwork just in case plans change.
March 3-26 (March 15-19 is Spring Break)- KGOE
May 3 - a "Brown Bag Lunch" for parents of 5th grade students will be held in
the Great Oaks Library from 12:00pm until 1:00pm.
May 12 - fifth grade students will be visiting Cedar Valley Middle School.
Students will be able to observe sixth grade classes and have lunch at Cedar
Valley.
