Dear Parents,

The students have been working very hard on three different TAKS assessments called PAKS tests. (Practice TAKS test)  They took the Reading, Writing and Math.  I will let you know if I have a concern about your child’s score, and if would like to find out the results, just let me know.

Here is a breakdown of what we have been studying and what we will be learning about :

WRITING!!!!  There will be a big focus on writing over the next few weeks as we ready the kids for Camp Write Along and the Writing TAKS test.  The two primary skills we’ll be focusing on are elaboration and revising and editing. 

Camp Write Along will be the week of February 22^nd.  The Friday before camp, (February 19^th at 2:00 p.m.) we will need donations for camp related décor and a few helping hands to get our classroom decked out in a camp gear.  I will send out more detailed information as the date approaches.  Please let me know if you have items and/or can help set up the classroom.

Math: Decimals!!

Social Studies:  Texas and the Civil War

Science:  Nonliving systems

Reading:  We will be reading our "Just Right" books and developing thoughtful written responses.
