It is crazy to think that 100 days of school have come and gone! We had a great time writing, reading and doing math activities based on our 100 days. Thanks for sending in your 100 collections. We will use them for some math activities during the week dealing with measurement. We will review length, perimeter and area and discuss weight and capacity.
We welcome our new friends (full-time) this week. The kids have already shown so much friendship, caring and love to one another. What a great way to begin a unit surrounding love. We will use Valentines as a way to talk about letter writing, which will be our writing focus for the week. We will write letters to our friends, family and even the president. In thinking about writing, we have been working on using punctuation, spaces, correct sight word spelling, capitalization and rereading our sentences to make sure they make sense. The students are becoming more and more independent at the skills.
Keep recording your minutes read for the “Read to Succeed” program. Remember that you can count minutes you read to your child or minutes your child reads to you!
Also, we are now halfway through our kindergarten year. We are already starting to pick up speed in our routine and skills. We will be working hard in reading, writing, and problem solving. Independence in both academic and social activities will be strongly encouraged/ expected for the remainder of the year in order to better prepare ourselves for the transition into first grade.
We are in need of a parent from our classroom to help with the school carnival. Please email me if you are interested.
