Grading Policy

Grades are determined by total points earned out total points possible. Students should know that

each assignment or test is connected to the learning objectives.

The completion and mastery of the activities and assignments lead to personal success in class,

as well as to a stronger class community.

FYI:

In Gradespeed, there are several entries to notice:

First, if a score has been assigned, I have assessed the work at the point value shown.

Students may always make corrections to class work or exams if they do not make a passing grade.

Second, if an assignment column is blank, no score has been assessed yet for that piece of work. A

blank DOES NOT mean missing, it just means I have yet to grade that assignment.

Third, an "m" or "msg" in a column could mean one of two things: The student was present in class, but

did not have his/her work on the due date; OR the student was present in class but left class early on the

due date (maybe for an appt, to see the counselor, the nurse etc..) before getting the work scored.

A Msg score does enter to a zero in the gradebook. However, it is a reminder to me to continue to

ask for the assignment from the student, and the student reminder to show their work to me upon return

to class so that an appropriate score can be entered.

Please feel free to email me or give a call with any questions.
