Science Announcements

Dear Parents & Students,

Thank you so much for making my first year at Grisham a great one!  I truely appreciate all the support you have shown to me and my class throughout the year.  I am proud to be a part of the Grisham Grizzly family!  Have a great summer and please stop by to visit me next year!

Please return textbooks this week.  They still have access to the online Science textbook.

Final exams are this week!  Please study the study guide I gave last week.  The final exam schedule is on the Grisham website for you to print out if you like.   Tues is a normal bell schedule, Wed is 1st and 2nd exams, Thurs is 5th, 6th, and 7th exams, and Friday is 3rd and 8th period exams.  Friday will also be a fun day after the exams including field activities and a final assembly.  Parents are invited after the last exam on Friday!

Free Cichlids!  I am giving away some of my African Convict Cichlids.  They keep reproducing and we have too many now.  They cannot be with any other fish as they are agressive and will kill any other fish in the tank.  If you are interested, please let me know.  I have about 14 babies.

Students are now set up for the online textbook!  A link is on the "6th grade Science Links" page to access the online textbook anywhere!

Please continue to collect Box Tops over the summer.  We collected 4000 box tops this year!  Way to go!

Tutorial Times:   Tues, Wed, & Thurs  7:45-8:15 am
After school by appointment ONLY!

Thank you!
Ms. Colombi

Ten Tips for TAKS

1.       Get enough rest and EAT breakfast.

2.       Skip questions you don’t know and come back to them.

3.       Take your time!  Read questions twice, highlight words, and check your answers.  There is no prize for finishing first!

4.       Use the formula chart!  Look up every formula and write it next to the question.

5.       Draw pictures and diagrams.  Your brain is working really hard, help it out by drawing pictures that help it “see” the problem.

6.       Look over the pictures first.  Look at labels and titles before reading the question.

7.       Cross off any answers that don’t make any sense.  This narrows your choices.  Pick the best answer that is “most right”.

8.       Take a break!  Your brain needs to rest.  Stretch and roll your shoulders.

9.       Check your bubbles.  At the end of each page make sure you are on the right problem.

10.    Don’t Leave Any Blank!!!!  A guess is better than a blank.
