Dear Parents/Guardians: I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you all to my ESL classroom. My name is Gaye Gulyasar. I worked as a Research Assistant at a university in Turkey, taught ESL and English Language Methodology at undergraduate level. I taught Kindergarten in Austin for four years, and I did substitute teaching at different schools in the RRISD. Besides these, I taught adult ESL for six years before I came to Grisham Middle School last year. This will be my second year at Grisham as an ESL teacher, and I will continue teaching adult ESL in the RRISD as well. I have my Master’s Degree in ESL, and PhD in Child Development and Education.I love teaching ESL and having a chance to meet with students from all around the world. In our ESL classroom we’re going to do different activities to improve listening, writing, reading, and speaking skills in English. We’ll also work on improving communication skills as well as building foundation to master content area courses such as English Language Arts, Science, Math, etc.. ESL classroom has a very unique and multicultural environment. Everyday we are going to get together to share ideas and do everything we can to be the masters of English language in our friendly and globally organized ESL classroom. Again welcome to a new school year! I’m very excited to be here, and I’m looking forward to working with my students in our wonderful IB school. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions:) Thank you, Gaye Gulyasar, PhD ESL Teacher Grisham Middle School Phone: 428-2690 e-mail: Gaye_Gulyasar@roundrockisd.org
We'll learn how to take responsibility for our own learning, take an active part in the communities in which we live, appreciate others, and become independent learners.
