8TH GRADE SCIENCE GRISHAM MIDDLE SCHOOL MRS. Teresa Milliger Dear Parents and Students: Welcome to 8th Grade Science. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with you and your children this year. Please call me with any questions, comments or concerns as they arise during the school year. My classroom number is 428-2717. You can email me at teresa_milliger@roundrockisd.org. I will return all emails/phone calls within 1 business day. Course Topics: This course will cover physics, geology, chemistry, the ocean/climate relationship, environmental impacts, genetics and Worth the Wait. Grading: The following system is used to calculate grades. 50% - Unit tests/Projects 20% - Quizzes 10% - Homework 20% - Daily class work/labs Late Work: I will check for most homework assignments as students enter class. If a student does not have his/her assignment, he/she will immediately call a parent/guardian to let you know that he/she has until the end of the school day to submit work. If the work is not turned in, a mandatory tutorial will be assigned during my next tutorial time. Students may complete and submit work at that time with no point penalty. If the student does not come in for tutorials, a detention will be assigned. Supplies: Students should have the following materials in class every day. 1. Grisham planner – for recording daily agendas and homework assignments and obtaining passes. 2. Notebook, paper and pen/pencil - notebook requirements will be covered in class. Make-up work: It is the student's responsibility to ask for any work missed due to an absence. This work can be found in the absentee folder in the back of the room. An ongoing calendar is posted so students can check to see what has been covered in class.
