Spanish class information

For the website, T or texto is the textbook (I will often use Spanish in
the lesson plans to get students used to depending on Spanish.....but I also
use many cognates or words that sound like what they are). The WB and WB2
refers to the in-class workbook which stays in the room. It has two parts
which is why there is the WB2. The WB2 goes with video activities. The L/E
is the workbook at home.

For each chapter (example: 5A, 5B, 6A, etc.) there will be a vocabulary quiz
over all words (including verbs/nouns/adjectives) about one week after being
introduced.....this quiz is a recognition memory quiz (they should know what
the words mean). The second vocabulary quiz is about a week after that and
is a production quiz.......this quiz requires that they are able to "use"
the vocabulary correctly within context.

The chapter test will include grammar topics covered, reading selections and
conversations with comprehension questions, vocabulary and culture topics
covered in the chapter.

Everyone was assigned the 20 ways for chapter 5A. The 20 ways assignment is
assigned at the beginning of a new chapter. It is due on the day of the
first vocabulary quiz. If a student scores an A on both vocabulary quizzes
for a chapter, then they will not have to do the 20 ways for the next
chapter. If their quiz scores drop below an A then they will have to do the
20 ways assignment. The 20 ways teaches different study techniques for
different learning styles and provides students with a way to interact with
the vocabulary.....a necessary part of Language B acquisition.

Pre-testing will be used two more times during the year but not for a grade
of any kind. I may assign some advantage to doing well like extra credit or
a replacement grade opportunity. These two test will be used to gage the
class for the end of year exam.....similar to benchmark testing.
