Great turn out this morning - 17! We checked out part of the National Geo Bee DVD from the 2007 championship and checked out atlases.

We will be meeting every Friday morning in 510 and the computer lab to practice, practice, practice. This morning I issued passed to everyone - if you were not able to come, stop by my room and pick one up.

We have enough interest to register our team! Our first meeting will be Friday, October 17th from 7:30 - 8:15 AM in Mrs. Rank's room - 510. We will continue to accept team members - they need to stop by my room to pick up a parent letter.

With your parent's permission, log onto nationalgeographic.com, find the link for educators, then the link for the National Geographical Bee. There are all kinds of great activities to help get us started.

Notes will be sent to all students who have shown interest during advisory early this week. Parent signatures are required and notes must be returned to Mrs. Rank by Friday. I anticipate our first meeting the week of 10/6.

This year I will be recruiting students in 6th - 8th grade to prepare and participate in our campus National Geography Bee. We need the firm commitment of 6 students in order to register for this event and receive the study materials.

Sign-up will be held now until the end of September. Sign up forms are located in social studies classes and outside of Mrs. Rank's classroom (510 - next to the 6th grade computer lab).

Students will be committing to weekly after school meetings from October until our campus Bee in January. Winner of the oral campus bee will take a written test that will be sent away to be scored to determine qualification as one of the top 100 in the state to compete at the State level in March.
