About The Teacher
NAME: Dr. Gary Long SCHOOL: Grisham IB World School CLASS: 7th Grade Texas History SCHOOL PHONE: 512-428-2724 Beginning my 32nd year as an educator, I have been a teacher, coach and administrator at ten different districts across the state of Texas. This is the second time I have worked in Round Rock ISD. I attended Texas Tech University and earned my Bachelors and Masters Degrees and earned a doctorate in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University. I completed my mid-management certification at Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University. I was a principal at 3 different schools, worked in the central office and was a superintendent. I am happy I have returned to the classroom where I get to interact with great kids everyday. I have three wonderful children ages 18, 14 and 12. My favorite things to do are teaching, coaching baseball, reading non-fiction, watching the Smithsonian station, playing golf, sailing my 26 foot sailboat "So Long" on Lake Travis, and scuba diving, horses and 7th graders.

Mission
My mission for our class is to examine the evolution of the great state of Texas from prehistoric times to present. After completing this class students should have a thorough understanding of the geography, culture, history, ethnicities, economics, natural resources and the many people past and present who had a hand in making Texas the vibrant and diverse state is it now.
