Advisory Ideas--Community and Service

                            
On-going year long projects for all students, collected by Advisories:
	Box Tops and Pull Tabs (Ronald McDonald House)
                 
Inside School Community and Service Sample Activities
	Clip and count Box Tops
	Recycling  (expand beyond paper to include alum, glass, 
                       plastic)—one per grade
	Decorating Hall Bulletin boards and Display cases (one per grade)
	Trash clean-up—inside and outside
	School beautification—weeding and watering flower beds
	Daily Flag raising
	Teacher newspaper distribution
	Student Open House guides
	Academic peer tutoring
	Field day/Science Fair/History Fair/Program set-up and clean-up
	Dispute resolution—peer mediation
	New Student Buddies
	ESL peer mentors
	Student committee representatives (Site-based, PTSA)
	Canned Food drives
	Music/Theater set up and clean up
	Help with Parent Resource Center
	Adopt an elementary class
	Adopt a nursing home—birthday cards holiday cards, etc.

		          be updated periodically.

Record of Community Service
	Each student will keep a log of community service.  These logs 
           will be kept by the Advisory teacher.

	Each student is encouraged to have 30 hours each school year of 
           community service.
  
    
Advisory Responsibility:
Each advisory will chose their own community and service projects.

Community Service logs will be kept in Advisory.  Each student is 
responsible for recording their own hours.
