History Fair
National History Fair Guidelines for 7th Grade
Fall 2008
All 7th and 8th graders are required to participate in the National History Fair
this fall. The theme will be " The Individual in History". Our school History Fair will
be Tuesday, November 18th. All projects are due in class on Friday, November 14th. Specific
information regarding types of entries, rules, deadlines, guidelines can be found in detail on
the National History Day website. This is a comprehensive, easy to use, well organized site that
students must access frequently regarding their projects. We will have a class set of
information but will not be distributing packets.

All projects due in class: November 14th
Grisham History Fair Date: Novemebr 18th
Free History Fair Workshop: October 4th (Sat)
Deadline to register for workshop Sept 26th

Grading Policy: This is a project grade (300 points) for
all classes. Projects will be assessed according to MYP Criterion D grading rubric focusing on
organization and design. The project will be a 3rd 6 weeks grade.

Category Rules: Available online. We will have a classroom
copy available but students must reference the website.
Students who wish to qualify for
National Consideration must investigate and understand the National History Day
Guidelines.
Source Requirements: All students must cite a minimum of 3 primary
sources and 2 secondary.
Process Paper: All students will be instructed on how to
prepare a 2 page summary/process paper as they work on their projects. This is a requirement.
Partner Option: Students may work with a partner but only
with students in the same class due to grading and check point considerations.
Checkpoint schedule: All students are required to work in stages and
demonstrate their progress via mandatory scheduled progress checkpoints.
