Dear Parents and Students:
It is my pleasure to be teaching your child 8th Grade Science. I am excited
about the year and expect it to be a productive one. Please call me with
any questions or concerns as they arise during the school year. My
classroom number is 428-2704. Emails are always welcomed, too. Below you
will find a summary of the topics we will cover this year as well as my
classroom policies and procedures.
Course Topics:
This course will cover physics, geology, chemistry, the ocean/climate
relationship, enviornmental impacts, genetics and Worth the Wait.
Grading:
The following system is used to calculate grades.
25% - Major Tests, Projects
25% - Quizes
30% - Labs, Classwork
10% - Homework
10% - Participation
Late Work:
Homework one day late will be fined 30 points. Homework two days or more
late will be fined 50 points.
Supplies:
Students should have the following materials in class every day.
1. Grisham planner – for recording daily agendas and homework
assignments
2. Notebook, paper and pen/pencil
Make-up work: It is the student's responsibility to ask for any work
that was missed due to an absence. There are folders on a desk inder the
flags which hold extra copies of work.
Classroom Rules:
Students are expected to follow all school and district rules listed in the
handbook. Here are my additional class rules:
1. Bring materials to class everyday.
2. Be in assigned seat and ready to begin class
3. 3 hall passes will be given for restroom, water or locker each
semester.
4. Observe all lab safety rules.
5. Remain in your seat until the bell rings.
6. Realize that your success lies in your own hands.
