Technology Education 7th and 8th Grade
Technology Education is a hands-on, activity based overview course designed
to increase the student’s understanding of the development and application of
technology in everyday life. Group and individual task, problem solving,
critical thinking and interdisciplinary activities will be explored through
out this course. The areas of technology explored are communication,
computer application, construction, manufacturing, energy, power, and
transportation.
Exploring Communications Technology 6th Grade
Exploring Communication Technology is designed to increase the students
understanding and application of the three branches of technology:
Information, Materials, and Systems. The students will be introduced to and
use the MYP Design cycle: Investigate, Plan, Design, Create, Evaluate. The
Design Cycle will be used for generating ideas and creating products and
solutions through individual and small group projects as well as hands on
learning.
To prepare students for success in the information age, technology must
become a tool that every student can use effectively. Students will use the
Web-based instructional program, Connected Tech, that teaches students
technology skills within the context of the core curriculum.
Students will learn about Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel.
They will also learn the importance of honesty, respect, and personal
responsibility when using telecommunications.
