Try some of these "Fun Activities" at home.
1. Discuss the main idea of a television show you just watched. What was it all about?
2. Write the sequence of events from your day. What happened first, second, next, then, finally?
3. What was the plot of the TV show? Who were the characters? What was the setting (time and place)? What was the problem? What events led to the solution to the problem? What was the solution?
4. Did you hear an unusual word today? Could you discover the meaning of that word by listening for clues?
5. Find five words that have prefixes. Remember prefixes are found at the beginning of words. What does the prefix mean? What does the whole word mean?
6. Find five words with suffixes. Suffixes are word parts like -less added to the end of a word. What does the suffix mean? What does the whole word mean?
7. Look in a newspaper for opinions. Does your opinion have a clue word like best, worst, good, bad, ugly, cute, gross, beautiful, fantastic, awful? Bring the opinions to school for scholar dollars.
8. Make a list of facts about your family. Can you prove the facts?
9. Memorize your multiplication facts -- tape them into a recorder, create flashcards, chant them around the house. Sing them in the car -- just MEMORIZE, MEMORIZE, MEMORIZE!!!!!
