| The Elementary Foreign Language program is an exploration of Spanish as a
second language. Students are exposed to Spanish through games, songs,
hands-on activities, dialogues, and role play situations. Opportunities to
learn about Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures are included as
part of the units of study. The exposure to Spanish provides a beginning
for communication skills in Spanish and creates a foundation for continued
language learning.
The program used for Kindergarten is Spanish P.E.; the primary focus being
on physical education. This program follows the Kindergarten P.E.
curriculum but is also supplemented with basic Spanish words and phrases,
such as numbers to 20, colors, body parts, and other P.E.-related vocabulary.
