Helpful Things to know about Hopewell

~School begins at 8:20am at Hopewell and ends at 3:30pm.

~Trying to email someone at Hopewell? All email addresses for teachers are
listed under the Directory link on the home page of our Hopewell website.
To ensure your teacher gets the email, try this hint: Type the teacher's
name in all caps in the subject line. Teachers receive many group emails
which are sent to everyone in the school and district and it may take them a
while to read through all of them to get to the one you have sent. Typing
their name in the subject line lets them know that one is specifically for
them and not one that is sent to the entire school.

~Attendance counts! So does non-attendance. If students are absent, they
need to bring a note and turn it in at the attendance window. If they have
been ill, parents should write a note of explanation. If they had a
doctor's or dentist appointment, please get a note from them and bring it to
school. Too many unexcused absences can result in a letter for truancy so
please be sure to send that note and have your student turn it in.

~Hopewell has several after-school clubs. Encourage your student to join
one! Studies show that involved students feel more connected to school and
tend to be more successful.

~Check out the athletic schedules on the Hopewell website. Make plans to
attend a game as a family and cheer on the Hornets. Games are played every
week. Check out the athletic schedule on the front page!

~Students should always check with teachers when they miss a class or are
absent so they may get makeup work. Often, grades are low because of
homework not being completed or turned in, so check with your
student...often!

~Students who are car riders pick up and drop off on the side of the
building closest to the Marquee sign.

~Students who are bus riders pick up and drop off on the other side of the
building.

~Students who are in PE should have a grey PE shirt and black shorts for PE.

~If you are picking up your student early, please be sure to have some type
of photo ID, preferably a driver's license. It is required by district
policy before your student may be released. Please plan to allow at least
10 to 15 minutes for the process so that you will not be late to
appointments.

~Hopewell PTA operates a school store on Thursdays during lunch. Volunteers
are always needed to assist with sales.

~At school dances, students must be passing all their classes in order to
attend the dance. Students are dismissed from the dance at different times
according to their grade level, so please check with your student to be sure
1)He or she is eligible to attend and 2)What time pick up time is for their
grade level. Please also note that dress code is enforced at school
dances.
