Hopewell Middle School was awarded Gold Performance in Reading and Social Studies for the 2008
testing. This award is given to campuses that have achieved greater than 90% passing in TAKS in
the given area. All Hopewell teachers and staff share in this process and deserve recognition.

The first administration of the TAKS Reading test for 8th grade will be March 3, 2009. Be sure
to plan ahead! Wear comfortable, layered clothes; be prepared with sharpened #2 pencils and
erasers; bring only water in resealable bottles and healthy snacks; and get plenty of rest
before the test. Remember, and remind your students, that ALL of them have learned great skills
this year, and all of them are able to show off what they've learned by doing their best on the
test!
