HOMEWORK 11-2-6-09
Continue working on alphabet flash cards and rhyming words

Language arts homework
In your child's folder you will find a set of flash cards on a ring for the
story My Cap(if your child is ready to start reading) and another ring of
site words for this week. Go over the flash cards for My Cap every night
until and other set of words comes home. Then replace the first set with the
second set.

Site Words--go over the site words each night. Each week more site words will
come home. Add them to the ring with the previous site words.

ALPHABET FLASH CARDS

Please continue to work on the flash cards at home
Mix up the capital and lower case letters and let your child sort them out in
a pile of either capital or lowercase.

After your child recognizes all the letters separate into those 2 group, mix
them up and let your child identify the letters and separate into capital
and lower case.

Once your child is confident is his/her ability to recognize the letters then
start on word families.

Example--use the flash cards at put a and t together--at no place the c in
front on at=cat, have your child sound it out. Next replace the c with a b
and the new word is bat.

Other word families are: _am, _id, _ad, _eg.

Make this activity fun something your child looks forward to doing. Please
don't spend more than 10 minutes on the nightly. You will be amazed how much
just this little extra with help in your child learning to read.
