Dear ISI Community and Generous Donors,

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil a’lameen. All praises are due to Allah SWT Creator of
the worlds.

As we move towards the end of another successful and blessed year at Islamic
School of Irving, Dr. Khalid and I would like to personally share with you
some of the success that we were able to achieve this year.

Monthly Tarbiyah Program
Teachers, students and parents meet under the umbrella of the Tarbiyah
program that has been initiated by ISI as a monthly series. The response from
all participants has been tremendously encouraging.

Three more Huffaz
ISI Hifz Program was proud to add three (3) more huffaz to their alumni list
who completed the Quran memorization this academic year. Currently, this
program has twelve students enrolled in the fulltime program, and have
graduated so far six students within a span of three years.

Grant from IBM
In January 2009, ISI was able to secure 10 Lenovo Desktop machines with LCD
panels through a Matching Grant program from IBM donors. With the addition of
these computers, the ISI Technology lab is equipped with 26 state of the art
computers for our students. Besides the technology class ISI has begun
integrating the use of computer lab with other subjects as well. Read more:
http://www.ibm.com/ibm/ibmgives/grant/giving/match.shtml

Learn and Serve grant
In February 2009, ISI was accepted for a new federally funded program ‘Learn
and Serve’ through partnership with Irving ISD. This two-year grant will
provide materials and resources for students with much needed support in Math
and Science. More info at http://www.txcsl.org/

In addition,, for the past two years, ISI has been participating in the ‘Star
Grant’ which has provided ISI teachers with professional development and
technical devices such as TI83 calculators, electrical probes, heart-rate
monitors for middle and high school classes.

Participation in Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair
On February 28th, for the very first time, ISI high school students
participated in the state-wide Science and Engineering Fair and ISI 9th
grader was recognized as ‘Honorable mention’ among 900 middle and high school
contestants. Notably, this is the largest regional science fairs in the
country where stellar school districts participate every year.

Duke Talents at ISI
To improve school-to-college transition, ISI initiated several new programs
this academic year. One of these was to nominate students in 4th, 5th and 7th
grade students for the Duke Talent Identification program (TIP). Based on
their IOWA test scores, six 7th grade students tested ACT in February 2009.
We were informed by the talent search program that three (3) ISI 7th grade
students have been accepted in TIP. These students will be awarded for their
outstanding achievement in a State recognition ceremony in May at Texas
Academy of Math and Science (TAMS) in University of North Texas.

We thank you for your continuous support. I pray that the coming year brings
us many blessings, opportunities and achievements for ISI as such.

Best Regards,
Shahnaz Chowdhury
Asst. Principal

Subject: ISI Speech Club

Dear Parents,

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu.

We are very excited to announce the start of ISI Speech Club.

Improving the public speaking skills is one of the key skill sets needed to
be a good leader. We all are required to speak at our work, business and
other places at some point in our life. Many of us who cannot speak
effectively wish we had someone or some program to have prepared for this.

We now have an opportunity to prepare our children to be better speakers. We
will follow Toasmasters club format. Toastmasters club has proven to be very
successful in preparing thousands of people to be good speakers.

Some of the long term goals for this program are to:
-Learn to communicate more effectively
-Become a better listener.
-Improve your presentation skills
-Increase your leadership potential
-Become more successful in your career
-Build your ability to motivate and persuade
-Increase your self confidence

The first session will be on Saturday, Nov. 15th from 9AM – 10 AM. We
request all the students of grade 6 and above and their parents to come and
enjoy the first session. You will get to see how the speech club works and
how it can help your children. Please come even if you have not enrolled
your children.

Refreshments will be provided.

Jazakallahukhair,

Wasalaamu Alaikum

Wednesday, September 16, 2008| Ramadan 16, 1429

Assalaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

Dear Parents, Staff, Students & Community members,

We wish you and your loved ones a happy, rewarding, and a spiritual Ramadan.
We ask Allah to accept our prayers, shower us with His blessings and mercy,
guide us with the light of the Qur'an, help us to live our lives according
to His pleasure, protect us from all wrong doings.

During this blessed month of Ramadan, we would like to share with you the
great news of achievement that has been accomplished at ISI. We have been
officially recognized as an Exemplary school based on our 2008 TAKS results.
With regard to the TAKS results the standard for Exemplary is a 90% passing
rate in each subject and for Recognized the standard is a 75% passing rate.
The passing rate is calculated across all tested grade levels for each
subject area and group in the accountability system. ISI had very good
performance for the students at 90% each grade level according to the
experts at Irving ISD who officially recognized ISI as an Exemplary school.

With your dua’a and support, insha Allah we will realize our vision to be
the Islamic school of choice in North Texas .

May Allah SWT continue to bless our school, our community and the Muslim
Ummah. Ameen

Ramadan Mubarak!

Wasalaamu Alaikum,

Dr. Khalid Kebbati, Principal

Math-A-Thon @ ISI 5-5-2008
==========================

Assalum Alaikum,

I want to thank all of our KG through 3rd grade Teachers, parents and our
wonderful students because of their hard work and efforts to raise awareness
of St. Jude's hospital that made this possible

Our KG through 3th grade students participated in Math-A-Thon in order to
raise money to help St. Jude's Research Hospital. St. Jude's is a hospital
that takes in sick kids and their families and never asks for payment.
Math-A-Thon is a program where kids help raise money and awareness for kids
who have childhood diseases like cancer. As part of ISI's strategic goal of
"Community Building," Sr. Shahnaz asked me to coordinate the efforts of the
Math-A-Thon. This year, our students raised almost $1,200 for St. Jude's
Children's Research Hospital.

To find out more about St. Jude's please go to www.stjude.org

Dear ISI Staff Members, Parents, and Community Members

We hope this email finds you in the best of health and Imaan. May Allah SWT
continue to bless our school and accept all our efforts in providing the
best
education to our children, Ameen.

Alhamdulillah, in the last few months, several new members have joined the
school advisory board. Inshah Allah, the new board members will work to
achieve our common goal of helping our outstanding team of Teachers and

dedicated members of the Irving Muslim Community for last several years.

The selection of these members was conducted according to the ICI

Council
(see school/ICI governance details below). Based on advice from experienced
educators, we are trying to increase the number of school board members to
bring in new and better ideas; this will also allow the tenured board

participation
from sisters in the school board. Inshah Allah, we will post School Board
job
description and selection criteria for the open position during this summer.

committees such as Outreach, Youth, and Community Development etc. The
School Board members are selected based on proven volunteer track record.
All board members are approved by the Shura Council, except for the PTO
president who is elected by the school general body. The school board
operates based on the school bylaws and encourages participation of both
male
and female members from all ethnic backgrounds and skill sets.

ICI Governance

The constitution of ICI mandates a three-tier organization. The General Body
comprises of all registered members of the ICI in good standing. The General
Body elects the Shura Body, a group of 30 members for a period of 3 years.
The Shura Body elects six members of the Shura Council. One ISNA
representative is also selected from the Shura Body into the Shura Council.

The Shura Council is the highest executive body of ICI. Its term in office
is
