About The ISI Library Media Center

ISI students can use the Library Media Center to:
1. find information,
2. find books that you like to read,
3. find recommended new books,
4. get the books that you need, and
5. rest and relax!

About the Librarian
===================

Responsibilities:
-Selection of library materials
-Circulation of library materials
-Acquisition of library materials
-Catalogues library materials
-Provides reference services to faculty and students
-Collaborates with faculty on subject units
-Supervises students during class visits
-Maintains LMC web site and library system
-Coordinates fundraising activities
-Implements programs for faculty and students
-Promotes and set up bi-annual book fairs
-Provides technology assistance for faculty and students
-Discards old and outdated materials

Mission Statement

The mission of the ISI Library Media Center is to ensure that students and 
staff are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is 
accomplished:

- by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats  

- by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in 
reading, viewing, and using information and ideas  

- by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the 
needs of individual students.

Reading = the library media center encourages and engages students to read,

learning how to learning so that students become self-reliant, independent 
adults, and responsible, contributing citizens.

Technology = the library media center embraces and implements technology 
and teach students to use it responsibly and effectively to help them 
acquire the knowledge and skills required for the 21st century.

Information Literacy = the library media center assists students in 
accessing information efficiently and effectively and teach students to 
recognize that utilizing valid and relevant information is central to 
meeting the opportunities and challenges of academic success and day-to-day 
living.

Innovation = the library media center investigates, initiates, and 
implements positive change and new ideas that will effectively prepare 
students for life.

Intellectual Freedom = the library media center promotes, develops, and 
facilitates age-appropriate access to all expressions of knowledge, opinion, 
and intellectual activity.
