Over the last few weeks we have been learning routines and reviewing academic
skills. I am currently assessing reading levels and phonemic awareness
skills, so reading groups will begin soon. In the meantime, please read with
your child at home nightly for at least 20 minutes and record in their yellow
daily folder on the blue pages located in the back. I will begin sending
home leveled books soon. If you need help in selecting books or need
resources for obtaining reading material, please see my LINKS page on my
website. I have links set up for online reading as well as leveled book
finders.
Academic Information Night is coming this week - Thursday, September 17th at
6pm. We will be sharing first grade skills and responsiblities. We will
also share homework expectations. Our first weekly homework assignment will
be sent home this Thursday.
