Styrofoam Ball & Clay Model

This solar system model uses
styrofoam balls as a base. Then
the student used different colors
of clay to cover them, as the
planets appear.

Hanging Felt Solar System

A solar system model made of felt
is another option. This student
cut, stuffed, and glued together
felt pieces of varying sizes and
colors to create a 3D effect.
Then the planets were hung using
fishing line on a dowel, with
labeled cards with facts.
