Welcome to the 3rd through 5th grade section of Jollyville Life Skills. My
name is Melissa Hollan, and I'm thrilled to be back for another great year of
teaching and learning in the FAC unit.
I am currently in my eleventh year of teaching, and my third in a Functional
Academics Unit. I've taught in general education(grades K-12), inclusion, and
private and public special education settings. I'm fortunate to have been able
to teach in Canada, Houston, Corpus Christi, Austin, and now Round Rock. Each
experience has helped broaden my horizons and inspired me to greater heights!
This year, I'm excited to be working on developing transition skills to help
my 5th graders "move on" to middle school, and on creating and maintaining
data folders with which students can document and observe their growth with
individual skills and behaviors.
I am happily married and live with my wonderful husband and four spoiled
rescue dogs on a tree-filled acre near Lake Travis. When I'm not at school, my
time is spent walking dogs, running and working out, reading, cooking,
gardening and spending times in Austin's great outdoors.
I am committed to knowing and understanding your child, and to doing my very
best to meet his or her individual needs. It's going to be a great year in
Functional Academic Skills and I'm excited that you and your child will be
along for our journey!
