The four components of the comprehensive developmental guidance program are:
Guidance Curriculum
Every two weeks during the year, the counselor will teach a guidance
lesson to your child's class. These lessons are usually about character
education traits that will help your child in school and in life outside of
the classroom. This component provides preventative classroom guidance to
ALL students.
Responsive Services
Children often need a safe environment to be able to work through
problems. The counselor can provide that for your child at school.
Responsive services includes providing counseling to address the immediate
concerns of students, usually through individual or group counseling.
Individual Planning
This component includes assisting students in monitoring and
understanding their own development in areas of education, career, and
personal/social, usually through the development of academic and career
plans.
Systems Support
This final component includes program management and evaluation, staff
and parent support activities, and community liaison.
Parents, I am available to meet with you to discuss any concerns you may
have about your child's progress every morning at 7:30. As school meetings
do sometimes come up at the last minute, it is best to make an appointment.
I am also available to meet with you Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons
from 2:30 - 3:30.
