Reading Lists

 The Children's Literature Web Guide 
provides information to parents, educators, and children about the books 
available for children and young adults.   

Cybrary Literacy Center:  Recommended reading lists by grade level by 
America Taking Action 

Guys Read - A Literacy Initiative for Boys: By Jon Scieszka, this is a 
literacy initiative to connect boys with books they will want to read. 

Just for Kids Who Love Books:  Information on children's authors, facts 
about how books are published, and a link to the Publishers Weekly 
Children's Bestseller List 

Kids Path:  Los Angeles Public Library web page that includes age and grade 
level books, award winners, favorites, genres, and kid recommendations 

Kidsreads.com: Kidsreads is the best place on the web for kids to find info 
about their favorite books, series and authors. Reviews of the newest 
titles, interviews with the coolest authors and special features on great 
books are our specialties.  

Lots of Lists: David K. Brown, Director of Doucette Library of Teaching 
Resources at the University of Calgary, offers links to many different 
lists, arranged by year and by category, of great books for children. 

Notable Children's Books: The Association for Library Service to Children's 
(American Library Association) lists of notable children's books for each 
year offer excellent reading suggestions arranged by age interest.  

ON-LION for Kids: New York Public Library's collection of links for 
children. Also contains useful information for parents on public use of the 
Internet, etc. 

TLA - The Texas Bluebonnet Award: Here you can learn the history and purpose 
of the Texas Bluebonnet Awards as well as see the list of this year's Texas 
Bluebonnet Award nominees, a list of last year's nominees, and the list of 
previous winners. Any of the books listed here should be interesting and 
appropriate for 3rd - 6th graders. (See our Bluebonnet Book page for voting 
rules.)  
TLA - The 2 by 2 List: Here is a list of 20 of the best new books for 
children from 2 years old to 2nd grade. This new program is from the 
Children's Round Table division of Texas Library Association. 
World of Reading: Click on a category you like to read, and you'll find 
reviews, written by school children around the world, of books they've read 
and recommend.
