About The Teacher
Hello! I am Melissa Cook and I will be your child’s first grade teacher! I am thrilled to begin a new year with you and your child. First grade is an amazing year--you will be amazed at the academic growth your child will make throughout the school year. This is one reason why I love teaching first grade. I grew up in Austin and attended Southwest Texas State University. I received my bachelor and master degrees from there. I taught 3rd grade for 5 years in Hays CISD before I moved to Jollyville. I joined the 2nd grade team and stayed there for 7 years. This will be my 3rd year in 1st grade—and I love it! My husband, Russ, and I have a 3 ½ year old son, Riley. He is a loveable ball of energy and we enjoy every moment (well, most of them)! I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, gardening, and cooking in my spare time. My husband and I are Texas Longhorn football fans and we live for college football in the fall. I’m very excited to begin another year at Jollyville. Our school is filled with staff members who are dedicated to their profession. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to bring them to my attention.
