My name is Laurie Kafena and I am your child's fifth grade teacher. I have
been an educator for nineteen years, both locally and overseas. My
educational background has been varied with a Bachelors in Child Development
(California), a Masters in Education (Massachusetts), and certification in
Educational Administration (Texas). I have taught almost every grade level at
the elementary level and this is my second year as a fifth grade teacher at
Jollyville.
On a personal note, I have three adult children. My oldest graduated from the
University of Texas-Austin, my middle child attended Lake Forest College in
Illinois, and my youngest attends A&M. As you can see, we have many different
kinds of educational experiences in my house!
Outside of school I enjoy going to the movies, walking and training my three
dogs, and reading a good book.
I am excited and look forward to a wonderful year FULL of learning.
