I am so excited to be at Jollyville, a school with a big heart and a
commitment to ensuring that your child succeeds.
This is my sixth year of teaching. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business
Management, Teacher Certification, three graduate credits from the "New
Jersey Writing Project" and three from "Teaching Environmental Science."
I am an avid reader and I like to write. Previously, I worked in the high
tech industry for eighteen years. However, I always yearned to be a teacher.
In fact, I inadvertently got into the high tech industry because I was
interested in how computers could help struggling students learn.
My three grown children, two daughters, Jeana and Janelle, and a son,
Jeff, live in the Austin area with my seven grandchildren. I have a
Schnauzer named SugarBear who, along with my grandchldren, keeps me busy. My
grandchildren range in age from a freshman in college to the youngest who
will be turning five.
I grew up in the country in Wisconsin and Minnesota with my parents and five
brothers and sisters. Though my father was a truck driver with an eighth
grade education, he instilled in us the value of education. All of us are
college graduates. One of my sisters (who has Dyslexia) has been an Austin
Montessori teacher for over 30 years and my other sister home-schooled her
boys. One of my brothers has been a Mathmatics/Aeronautics Professor at Penn
State for 25 years, while another brother provides technical support for the
same college.
To stimulate imaginations with research-based inquiry and instruction that
inspires children to become life-long learners.
