FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How may my parents contact you? Your parents may call the school and leave a message for me. Also, you and/or your parents may email me by clicking the mailbox at the top of the homepage or the "Email" link on any of the pages in this site. My email address is ktyner@lisd.org Yes, tutorials begin at 7:45 and if you need help with something or have been absent you may come to my classroom at that time. Also, homework should be done at home. Please don't come to tutorials to do homework - only come when you need help or have been absent. You may also see me after school until 4:00 if you have concerns. If you have been absent and requested your work while out, you should bring it when you return. If you did not request work while out, you need to come to tutorials your first day back to find out what you need to do. You may request your work by emailing me at ktyner@lisd.org. If you were out due to unexpected illness, please try to come to tutorial your first day back. If you don't make it to tutorial, talk to me before or after class. Also it is a good idea to have a "buddy" in your class that you can contact whenever you have been out or are needing assistance with an assignment. What do I need to bring to class? Every day, you will need a pencil, pens (black/blue & red), spiral, and textbook (supplied). You will also need your assignment book, everyday! Whenever other things are needed, I will remind you to bring them. Also, look at the list outside the classroom before you enter each day. Students will leave backpacks in the hallway outside of the classroom. Make sure your backpacks are near the wall and do not block the doorway. It is also important to remember to get the things you need out of your backpack before entering the room to avoid crowding the area just inside the classroom door. You should be able to enter the room, put your backpack down, then proceed straight to your desk. You will not be permitted to return to your backpack to get things you forgot during the class period. If you forgot something that needed to be turned in, you may give it to me after class. What do I do when I get to class? After you arrive at your assigned seat, copy your homework assignments into your assignment book. Then follow the directions that are written on the board so you will be ready for class after I check the roll. Make every minute count! Do I have to read the sections at home? YES! Our class period is only 45 minutes and we don't have time to read and do the work that is associated with each section during the class period. When you have read the material before class, you will find the work that we do much easier to understand and complete. That will result in better grades for you! You will have reading assignments almost every night. Usually they are not very long - only 3 or 4 pages. Remember that we discussed in class that you might find it easier to read only a subsection at a time and take breaks from the reading. Also, remember that the objectives at the beginning of each section tell you what to look for & the mastery of the objectives will be checked at the end of the section. The chapter tests will not be difficult for you if you have been attentive in class, read the assigned material, and completed the assigned work. (This means you have learned what you need to know along the way.) When you review for the test, look over the objectives for each section in the chapter, the defintions, and what we have done in the spiral. You may also want to look at previous tests to anticipate what could be on this one. When it is time to study for a semester exam, you will be given a study guide that will remind you of the important information in each chapter that was covered during that semester. Please use this guide - it will help you! *** This page will be updated as new questions are asked.*** |
