Welcome to the Jackson Jewels!
Dear Parents,
I wanted to write a note to let you know that I am so excited about
having your child as a member of the Jackson Jewels and to let you know a
little bit about me. I have been married for 32 years to Kevin Jackson. He
is a vice president at Emerson Process Control. I have two children that are
Laurel Mountain graduates. My daughter, Jessica, is 24 and my son, Matt, is
26. My daughter is a first grade teacher in Killeen. My son is a biomedical
engineer that works for the Texas Heart Hospital in Houston.
I substituted at Laurel Mountain for four years while my children
were here and then when they graduated I stayed. I have taught third grade
for thirteen years. I am certified to teach TAG and ESOL classes. I also
received a great honor in 2002 and 2011. I was voted “Teacher of the Year” at
Laurel Mountain.
I know how precious your child is to you and that is why I call my
students “Jewels”. A jewel is a treasured person. I believe that everyone
has talents and that my job as a teacher is to find those gifts and help a
child develop them so that he/she can reach his/her full potential.
My goal this year is to have you and your child confident in the fact that
your child is ready to move on to the next grade confidently and the most
important thing is that your child knows that they are special and valued.
All the learning takes place when this goal is met.
