Dear Parents,
I am delighted to have this opportunity to be your child’s Kindergarten
teacher. This is my 26th year to teach Kindergarten in Round Rock ISD. I
began my teaching career in our district in 1981, the year Westwood High
School opened. Along with this “hands-on” experience, I have a Master’s
degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, and certifications in
Talented and Gifted, Early Childhood Special Education, and ESOL/ELL.
I have always had a passion for this age group. It is absolutely my
favorite grade to teach. Kindergarten brings such a variety of fun and
exciting experiences. Every child is unique with individual needs and
differences. We will use all of these special qualities as positive
influences while we build our learning community together. My goal is to
provide your child with many opportunities to enhance his/her learning and
creativity. Our curriculum is designed to differentiate between all of the
levels that come with this grade. It is a challenging and motivating
journey that we are about to begin!
On a personal note, I, too, have had a child at Laurel Mountain! The
Lee family joined LME in 2002 when our daughter, Callie, entered
Kindergarten. After finishing a sabbatical of being an “at-home” mom, I
returned to teaching the year Callie began Kindergarten. It was quite a fun
year being a “Kindergarten mom” AND a “Kindergarten teacher”. Callie will be
a Freshman at Westwood High School,so our family has moved on to a wonderful
new adventure.
As always, I am available to you to help make this school year a
successful one for all of us! I do love to communicate with my parents
through phone calls, E-mail, weekly newsletters, report cards, and
conferences. Please feel free to call me or E-mail with questions or
concerns.
I look forward to getting to know all of you. Thanks for helping us
make a smooth transition to a new school year. It is going to be great!
Donna Lee
We will work together to be warm fuzzy friends so that we can be safe, learn
more, and have fun at Laurel Mountain Elementary!
