About The Teacher

Dear Parents and Students,
I would like to welcome you to kindergarten at Laurel Mountain. I am
delighted to tell you that this will be my ninth year at Laurel Mountain. I
began in 2002-03 as the campus-based substitute with the opportunity to teach
K-5th grades. It was the perfect job for me while I was completing my
Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at Texas State University.
I received my first degree in Secondary Education, Speech/Drama, and
Psychology.
I was able to use those skills throughout the years as I assisted my husband,
David with youth ministry and musical productions. I substituted for many
years in elementary schools while I still had children at home. It was
during those years; I discovered that when my children were old enough and
well on their way in school, I would love to teach young children full time,
a dream come true!
In 2003-04 I had the privilege of teaching first grade here at Laurel Mt.
and truly loved my students and that wonderful “team”. Then the next year, I
decided to transfer to a newly-opened kindergarten position, the grade I had
always wanted to teach.
So here I am, going on my eight year in kindergarten and loving it!
I have a great family, and I love spending time with them. My husband David,
and I have been married for 35 years, with two children: Our son Jeremy is an
attorney and lives in Dallas with his wife Ashli. Our daughter Jaime,
is in her second year at Baylor University in Waco, Tx.
With our children’s ages being 14 yrs. apart, we never had the
usual brother-sister fighting. (Smiles) We like to play games, go to the
movies and baseball games together. We also enjoy playing with our two West
Highland White Terriers, “Happy” and “Darcy”; it is always fun telling my
students about their latest adventures.
I love small children; it thrills me to see them "light up" when they have
learned something for the very first time or when they find out what they are
really "good at".
Thank you for sharing your child with me. I will love and cherish each day
and I know we will make a great team!
Sincerely,

Annette Lee
