Dates to Remember:
May 8- Chemistry Circus Field Trip to UT (need volunteers)
I need at least 4 parent volunteers to attend this trip. You can ride the bus
with our class.
We will break off into small groups at the Texas Memorial Museum. Permission
slips are being sent home today (green form). I only have one parent
volunteer at this time.
May 9- CVMS Field Trip (9-12:30pm)
No parents needed...the 5th graders get to shadow a 6 grader for several
hours. Also, your child can bring a lunch or buy lunch at the CV cafeteria.
May 10- READING Camp Out DAY! Bring your sleeping bags, pillow, and a good
book to read! All students who are finished with IIM project and are ready
for the showcase will enjoy a READ-IN DAY! Smores for late afternoon snack. I
need several parents to donate chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmellows.
Email if you bring in a bag.

May 17- IIM Show Case & Pot Luck Dinner (6-8pm)
The entire class will present to Parent on May 17 @ 6:00-7:00pm. After
presentations, we will have a family style pot luck celebration. Bring a
dinner item to share. I look forward to see your family at this event. If I
can get a parent to coordinate the sign up sheet that would be great. Email
me if you can head this up. See flyer attached.
May 18- Maturation Video (boys and girls separated)
Return this form if you do NOT want your child to participate in this video
presentation and discussion.
May 24- 5th Grade Graduation @ 8:30 in cafeteria
We will have a Castro Cougar Classroom Presentation AFTER the Graduation. If
you neet to return to work that is fine. If you can stay and come back to the
room with our class, please do. I have a class video and a special gift for
each of my students.

10-10:30ish Cougar Celebration in classroom. Come by and celebrate with our

Classwork/Homework for Week:
Math: mean, median, mode, range, Hands on Equation Algebra lessons
Area of a triangle and more math concepts
Science: B Ch.3: Biomes (no test this week) We will be working in small
groups to research biomes in class.
Social Studies: Ch. 18: The Causes of the Civil War
TEST on Tuesday, May 15
Reader’s Workshop: We will be working on finishing IIM report/ products/ oral
presentations for the next two weeks. We will have a IIM Show Case & Pot Luck
