Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all doing well and have had a fun and relaxing summer! I'm
looking forward to seeing you all again and getting to know our new
students and parents joining us this year! I feel very priveleged to work
with this inspiring, diverse group of students, parents and staff.
I received my B.A. in art from the University of Montana and shortly
afterwards moved to southern Africa and started a pre-school in Piggs Peak,
Swaziland. I taught there for two years before moving to Maseru, Lesotho,
where I raised my children for the next 6 years. Then we moved to
Massachusetts where I was a volunteer for the Massachusetts Arts
Council and apprenticed with a Malian goldsmith.
I have a 24 year old son, Aaron who is working at the Baha'i World Center in
Israel, and twin daughters, Kelsey and Natalie, 21, who are attending Texas
State University. I enjoy kayaking, horseback riding, travelling and
reading.
I've been teaching at Laurel Mountain since 1999 for 10 years. I am amazed
and energize by my student's creativity and ability to express themselves
using design principles and concepts. My goal is to be a facilitator for
children to find their hidden gems through self discovery and to help them
develop their skills and knowledge of visual art. Your ideas, suggestions
and talents to help me in this process are important to
me and welcomed!
The mission of our art class is to respect each other, encourage each
other, and learn from each other as we improve our skills and knowledge of
art.
