I Love Laurel Mountain!
I love the enthusiastic children!
I love the helpful parents!
I love the terrific staff!
My favorite teacher moments are when the students and I are both learning new
things and having fun!
1. I love to sing with the boys and girls and my ukulele!
2. It’s fun to change my “Let’s Pretend” area in the classroom. We
start out with the Three Bears House. Next we’ll have a Pizza Restaurant.
My favorite is the Texas Bunk House. I even have a small saddle with ropes to
play with.
3. I especially like science experiments. Last year we made rocket
balloons by taping an inflated balloon to a straw that had a string going
through it attached to each side of the room. Let go of the balloon and
watch how fast it shoots from wall to wall. Cool!
4. Each Thanksgiving I enjoy having my students taste cranberries
prepared in several different ways. It is quite entertaining to watch their
faces as they eat a fresh cranberry—it’s really sour! (Did you know fresh
cranberries bounce?)
5. I remember one year we were studying spiders. My class gathered
around our tarantula to watch as we gave him crickets to eat. He jumped so
fast—we jumped so fast—then had a big laugh at our reaction.
6. Watching children learn to read is a privilege. Often times, I know
they can read before they do. It is a thrill to watch their faces as they
experience success.
7. At holiday time, during afternoon free centers, I look forward to
plugging in my CD’s and teaching the boys and girls how to jitterbug—
complete with spins, dips, and lots of laughter.
My two goals for teaching are to create exciting, engaging lessons and to
have a caring heart for my students and their families.
The smart and happy Prentice Puppies came to Kindergarten to learn to share
and read. We will learn to write, play, have fun, have lunch, do math and go
to PE. We will listen to the teacher, take care of our school and be kind to
all hearts and bodies.
