What is guidance?

"Guidance" is an abbreviated term for guidance lessons which are lessons
that school counselors present to whole classes of students at one time.
Sometimes, your child will say, "I saw the counselor today." and that is the
experience they had.
If your child comes to me for a different reason, I will make every effort
to contact you by phone. If I can't reach you by phone, I will send a note
home.

If my child sees the counselor, is he or she in trouble?

Maybe. While it is true, that children are sent to see the counselor when
they have been disruptive, school counselors do not impose punishments. Our
job is to help the child discover why he or she may be acting out (self
awareness) and give them strategies to help cope with the challenges they
may be facing.
