My name is Nancy Salicrup and this is my third year teaching Spanish II and
III here at Lockhart High School. I'm also the sponsor for the Spanish Club.
I was born and raised in Zacatecas, Mexico, but moved to the United States
when I was fourteen. I attended Connally High School in Waco, Texas, where
my whole family lives. Upon graduating from high school, I received
the "Who's Who at Connally High School Award", which was given to six
seniors in a class of 127. I also received several scholarships for my
academic achievements that made it possible for me to go to collge.
After high school, I attended McLennan Community College for two years, then
I transfered to Texas State University. During my college career, I was a
member of Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish Honor Society. I graduated "Cum
Laude" from Texas State with a B.A. in Spanish, with Teaching Certification,
and a minor in Photography.
In October of 2007 I got married to the most wonderful man out there!!!
Here are some more facts about me:
I love:
my family
my nephews Gerardito and Jesusito
my niece Amy
the color blue
photography
my mom's homemade food
Mexico
Spanish rock and pop music
reading Spanish literature
frogs (except real ones)
dancing
playing tennis
teaching
my students!!!
I love my culture and I'm happy to be able to share a part of it with
my students. I hope to help my students learn enough Spanish to be able to
use it in the real world. I would love for my students to learn the
importance of being able to communicate in a different language with
different groups of people and to be able to understand and appreciate other
cultures and their impact in American society. Most of all, I hope that my
students learn the importance of hard work, and that they strive to do
something productive with their lives!!
