About The Athletic Trainers

-Head Athletic Trainer-

Jim De La Cruz has been a trainer for Lockhart ISD for 25 years.  He is
a graduate of Texas State (SWT).  He grew up in Cuero and served in the U.S. 
Navy.  He has lived in Lockhart since 1969.  His wife Josie is a retired 
counselor and now serves as the chief examiner for the district's GED 
program.  They have three children, all graduates of LHS. His 
accomplishments are as follows:  
     •	1990- President- Southwest Texas Alumni- Student Athletic            
Trainers Club 
     •	1992- Southwest Texas- Distinguished Alumnus Award in Athletic 
Training 
     •	1993- President- Alamo Area Athletic Trainers Assoc. 
     •	1994-96- SWATA- Secondary School Committee 
     •	1998- Trainer- Texas High School Coaches Assoc. All-Star Football 
game- South team 
     •	2004- Southwest Athletic Trainers Assoc. John Harvey Humanitarian

Veronica Alejo-Waits is the new assistant athletic trainer at Lockhart I.S.D
Veronica is a graduate of Tarleton State University with a Bachelor's of 
Science. 
Her accomplishments are listed as followed.

              -Mens Besketball-made to the Final Four 
              -Volleyball,X-Country,Womans Basketbell,Track & Field
               Softbal,Baseball,Cheerleading,Dance,Rodeo
              -Member of Tarleton Athletic Trainer's Association
              -Graduated December of 2005 with a Bachelor's of Science

              -Accepted The Head athletic Trainer Position in March 06
              -Won Intence Bowl in August 06

Dae Tron Head has ben a student trainer for 5 years at L.I.S.D. Starting 
from his 7th grade year until now, his senior year. He has been the Head 
Student Trainer For 3 years .Dae Tron is certified in the following.
          -First Aid
          -CPR
          -AED
          -Certified Frist Responder
and is a member of the American Heart Saver Association.
His accomplishments are as followed.
      TRACK
          -U.I.L Regional Track and Field Meet               (Spring 06)
          -U.I.L Regional Track and Field Meet               (Spring 07) 
          -U.I.L Regional Track and Field Meet               (Spring 08)
           where he also ran for the mens 4*400 meter relay
          -UTSA Relays Mens DMR and he was the lions trainer
          -Kansas Relays he was the trainer for the lions and 
           he was a runner. Mens DMR and 4*800 relays
