| THE ENGLISH IV RESEARCH PAPER
The Assignment:
Research, develop, and type a paper that examines the life and influence of
an individual you admire. This paper will include three sections,
parenthetical citations, and a works cited page. Section I and II will be
the research part of you paper. Each of these sections will have a separate
thesis that is supported by the rest of that section of the paper. All of
the sources you use must be cited using MLA style. Most of your research
should be paraphrased. Use direct quotes sparingly and correctly.
Plagiarism on this project will result in disciplinary action and a required
rewriting of the paper.
Section I :
Write a 500 word (minimum) research paper that discusses the life and
significance of an individual you admire. This section will include a well
written thesis statement, an adequate discussion of the life and
significance of your topic individual, and at least three parenthetical
citations from a variety of credible sources. Make sure you do not rely
predominantly on one source. Your paper should reflect research from a
variety of sources.
Section II:
Write a 500 word (minimum) research paper with a well written thesis
statement and the at least three different credible parenthetical citations
to support your thesis. This paper will examine the history or development
of the event or institution that is associated with the individual you write
about in Section I.
For example, if you choose to write about Martin Luther King Jr. in Section
I, then you can write about the Civil Rights Movement in Section II, or if
you choose to write about Lance Armstrong in section I, then in section II
you might write about the sport of bicycling or you may want to write about
new trends in cancer treatments. Again, make sure you use a variety of
sources to reflect quality research.

Write an expressive essay of at least 250 words that describes why the
