Ms.Teri Davidson, the Activities

Coordinator at Golden Age Home,  asked us to sponsor a birthday party. We celebrated the birthdays of the four residents who were born in

December. We had door prizes for lots of residents. We shopped for

presents, baked a cake and bought a sugarless cake at Wal-Mart. Then we sang Christmas Carols. We Volunteer there every Tuesday.

To prepare for the party we will purchase purchase gifts.

Ms. Shelton, a Personnel Manager from Wal-Mart, visited our  class. We asked her a lot of questions. We  found out that 146  people work at Wal-Mart in Lockhart. There are four Wal-Mart stores in Austin.  All  employees  must know how to work  in every department.

William   asked   when   the   new   XBOX   would arrive.  Ms. Shelton told us they were expected on November 22nd.  Someone asked  about employee discounts. Wal-Mart has 10% employee discounts.  At Christmas time, employees get an extra 10% discount.

We asked how many  Wal-Marts there are worldwide.  She said there are about 5,000 stores in 15 different countries. They employ about 400,000 people.

Ms. Shelton told us that her main job was taking care of the needs of the employees. She told us about other jobs she had before working at Wal-Mart. We found out she has a desire to return to school and possibly become an elementary school teacher.

· We took this picture on our first trip using CARTS”. This is an acronym for Capitol Area Rural Transportation System.
