Lockhart DECA won the District tee-sirt competition, lead by Ashlea. Our
chapter design will appear on all Distrit V tee-shirts for the 2006-07
competition year.
The team of Sarah, Katie and Becky are working on a Public Relations
Campaign for better awareness of Teen Dating Violence. There will be an
assembly for 150 students at LHS on November 16th. Also, all 3 secondary
schools will participate in an essay-writing contest about the subject.
Each campus winner will be awared a gift certificate as the first place
winner. Good luck to this group of ambitious and dedicated young ladies.
DECA has organized for the 2006-07 school year. Officer elections were held
in September. Officers are:
President - Arielle
Vice President - Ashlea
Secretary - Shannon
Treasurer - Katie
Parliamentarian - Casey
Reporters/Student Council Rep - Travis and Josephine.
Officers will be attending a Leadership Conference in October in Cedar Park.
Plans for the competition team have begun. Anyone interested in competition
needs to let Mrs. W know.
Paw painting happened in September; thanks to all who paerticipated. Thanks
to Edward (alum member) who helped out and Mr. W who directed and taught
the "system".
Jessica and Arielle are "Lollipop managers" and the sale will begin
October 2. Amber and Ashlea are the tee shirt compeption designers and have
begun their design.
Popcorn is being sold and funds earned will go to food bank, other
charities, and to purchase the new flags for the school.

Sarah and Jessica were accepted to the International DECA Leadership
Development Academy that was held during the International Career
Development Conference in Dallas in April 2006. Dallas was wonderful and we
had a
really good time.
Congratulations to each of them!
Also attending and bringing home top honors at last year's District and
State CDC conferences were:
Alan, Travis, Katie, Kathleen, Arielle, Sarah, Jessica, Shannon, Ashlea,
Josephine, Katelyn.
