Marketing Education (Advertising, PrMkt, Retailing, Marketing Yourself, and LHS Yearbook)Advertising, PrMkt, and RetailMerch students all receive a class calendar with appropriate dates and assignments. Students should follow that outline and calendar whenever in doubt or absent from class for any length of time. Yearbook class assignments are done by deadline and any addition info will be found under the Yearbook heading in this same section. Marketing Yourself students will be preparing a personal portfolio during this 18 week, 1/2 credit course. This portfolio will serve as the course final exam. Each 3 weeks, students will receive a list of assignments due for that week.

Mrs. Williams has taught all the Marketing courses at Lockhart High School
for the past 21 years, after having spent 10 years in the retail industry.
Also included in her duties are serving as advisor/teacher for the LHS
Yearbook staff. This 2007 book will be the 20th yearbook in her career.
Mrs. Williams serves as the DECA, An Association of Marketing Students,
advisor.
As the advisor to a very active DECA chapter, Mrs. Williams has had a very
energetic and resourceful group of student members. Members have competed at
the District, and State for the past 21 years. Each
year, students have won at District and have advanced to State competition.
For 10 of the 21 consecutive years, we have had students advance to National
DECA competition. Also, we have had 1st alternates at State in 2
additional years. Lockhart DECA members have been very successful.
Mrs. Williams received her B.A. degree from Armstrong Atlantic State
University in Savannah, Georgia; teacher certification for Marketing
Education was through the Graduate School at Texas State University - San
Marcos (Southwest Texas State).
This school year, Mrs. Williams is serving as the District V of Texas
president of Marketing Educators of Texas, a marketing teachers professional
association.
Marketing is all around us! As consumers or as marketing specialists, it
concerns us all. The better informed we are, whether for career purposes or
for our everyday life, marketing constantly impacts us. Our newspapers,
magazines, television and radio are part of our everyday life. It is an
exciting world which all can benefit from being exposed to.
