Announcements

Welcome back to school! I am so excited to get back into the routine.
Please get your child to share the information with you he/she brings home
on the first day. I know it can be overwhelming. Make sure your child can
explain the dress code, as well as other things like these:
ID's must be work at all times in the chest area (not attached to sleeves or
under other clothing). ID's may not be defaced with marker, stickers or
holes/chewing. (You would be suprised at what happens to ID's!)
Sharpie Markers, as well as all other permanent markers are banned on campus.
Cell phones are allowed only with a signed and dated permission note from a
parent. If cell phones ring or are taken out during the school day, they
will be taken up by the teacher (even if the student has turned in a note).
IPods, CD players, radios and other such electronic equipment is never
allowed.
Some students like to bring lots of money to school. We've had students
with over $100 in his/her pockets! Please speak to your child about money
and safety. They should only bring enough money for breakfast, lunch, or
snack bar.
Speaking of snack bar, all sixth graders get the priviledge to visit during
7th period study hall. Remind your child that this is a priviledge and it
can be taken away for making bad behavior or work decisions.
Sagging pants are never allowed; belts must be worn by males if there are
belt loops on the shorts or pants.
Some students will wear "hoodies" (even if it is over 100 degrees outside).
They will be asked to lift up their jackets to show that shirts are tucked
in and belts are on.
Girls grow up fast! Blouses that fit last year may be too tight this year.
If the midsection (tummy) shows when arms are lifted or when students bend
at the waist, they will have to change. See through, sleeveless and low cut
blouses are not tolerated.
Although this may sound too strict to students, it is so much better for
these young men and women to focus on schoolwork and success, than to focus
on what they (and others) are wearing. Please help your student feel the
pride of success by supporting the dress code and related policies. I am
always happy to visit with you, or you may speak to your child's principal
or counselor at any time. Let's have a great year!
