System users shall maintain electronic information in accordance with established guidelines. System users may not upload or download programs to or from the District's system(s) without appropriate authorization. System users may not knowingly bring unauthorized materials into the District's ECS. If a user identifies or has knowledge of a security problem on the network, the user must notify a system administrator. The security problem should not be shown or demonstrated to other users. Vandalism Prohibited {From CQ (Regulation) Electronic Communication and Data Management}:Any attempt to harm or destroy District equipment or materials, data of another user of the District's system(s), or any of the agencies or other networks that are connected to the Internet is prohibited. Deliberate attempts to compromise, degrade, alter programs or settings, or disrupt system performance may be viewed as violations of District policies and administrative regulations, and, possibly, as criminal activity under applicable state and federal laws. This includes, but is not limited to, the uploading or creating of computer viruses. Vandalism as defined above will result in the cancellation of system use privileges and will require restitution for costs associated with system restoration, hardware, or software costs. Levels/Categories of Vandalism:Recommended Campus/District Consequences:Classroom ConsequencesLevel 1- Bypass securitySaturday D-HallDenial of Access to Computers for a specified period of time.Level 2- Minor modifications (ex: disable security, minor physical damage, change password, etc.)- Second offense of Level 1Denial of access to all computers and/or Saturday D-Hall for a specified period of time.Denial of Access to Network for a specified period of time.Level 3- Major modifications (ex: major physical damage, reconfiguration required, etc.)- Repeat offenses of Level 1 & 2Suspension, Expulsion, Non-passing grade, and/or legal actionAssignments restricted to pencil/paper activities only.Back to Top
