Homework this week will be a Math homework! Students will draw a certain
number of feathers on "Gobblers on a Fence."
Please continue to work on both sets of sight word flashcards! It is so
helpful to review sight words for just a few minutes DAILY. I will assess
color words this week, but a little bit differently. Instead of students
reading the color words for me, they will color a turkey by reading the word
to know what color to color each part.
Don't forget stretching! Please do this as many nights as possible. It is so
important and will help "sounding out" "click" so much faster for your child.
Please continue to read, read, read with your child! If your child is
reading, encourage them to read to you! Mrs. Bullen, our librarian, gave us
a reading challenge! She has made a "Super Patriot" page for students to
color in each night that they read, or you read to them, for fifteen
minutes. They have twenty-six buildings to color in! Keep filling in those
buildings--we want MANY "Super Patriots" photos in our class!
In Math, reinforce counting objects with one-to-one correspondence. Often,
students can count orally, but struggle with counting objects. This is a
great concept to practice at home! Writing numerals is often difficult for
students in Kindergarten. Please work on this at home.
We have a homework chart in our classroom. As students bring in their
homework, they earn a star on the chart. When they receive five stars, they
can choose from the treat basket. Please encourage your child to always turn
in his/her homework. These are good habits we can begin now that HOPEFULLY
will continue throughout their education! :)
